Unisweep®-- Miamisburg, Ohio

Efficient and effective filtration requires clean filter media. Mudball formation and cracks through the bed and along the walls can impair filter operation, decreasing production and shortening filter service runs. In extreme cases, these problems can lead to breakthrough and high effluent turbidites. An auxiliary surface washer protects expensive filtration media and helps keep your system in compliance with today’s stringent standards.

Unisweep® uses all stainless steel construction to assure corrosion free operation in any water or wastewater application. The design features an arm and center bearing base body of a single component, which eliminates the need for tees and arm pinning. It also reduces the number of connections which lessens the chance of failure.

Roberts Filter Group interviewed Bart Wagner, the Superintendent of Miamisburg Water Treatment Plant. Miamisburg uses Unisweep®, a surface wash agitator.

How has the product been doing for you? The surface wash system has been doing good after the maintenance we pulled on it. As long as you keep up on the maintenance, they work great.

What thing(s) do you like most about it? It is keeping our media from calcifying. We have had many problems with that before adding the surface wash.

How is it for maintenance? Difficult, simple? Maintenance is rather grueling due to the atmosphere in the filters. It is very humid conditions to work under. Also, they are not easy to access.

How often is maintenance required? We are finding that you should probably pull maintenance on them at least every 4-5 years.

How is your experience(s) with Roberts? We have never had any problems with Roberts. They are reliable on getting parts and also very helpful on helping troubleshoot problems and issues that we have had.
